She has taken many classes from the Scottsdale Art Institute, and has also
studied around the country with several contemporary painters including
Nancy Chaboun, Dawn Whitelaw, Quang Ho and Scott Christenson.
Vicki is a member of American Impressionist Society, the Mountain Brook Art
Association, Mt. Brook, Al., the Chestnut Group, Nashville, TN., and a
founding member of the Mississippi Oil Painters Association.
Her pursuit of painting "en plain air", has taken her to many beautiful
places to paint. Landscapes are a reoccurring theme.
"The vastness can be overwhelming. Early morning light and the last light of
day, the violet hour, are the most beautiful. To try and capture the essence
of light, color and shadow in that particular place and moment is a humbling
experience. No matter the end result, the process brings an awareness of the
overwhelming gift that God has given us in His creation. I understand from
studying the works of my favorite painters Sergi Bongart and Nicolai Fechin,
the importance of striving to painting from life and keeping it simple!"
